The Debitek Electronic Cash System is a combination of hardware, software, and services that address the needs of small value transaction automation in a closed environment. The system is made up of several components including:
ELECTRONIC CASH CARDS These cards are either smart (chip) cards or single/dual magnetic stripe cards. The cards can be integrated with other applications such as photo ID systems, bar codes, or custom applications developed for a given environment. CARD ISSUING SYSTEM The magnetic stripe technology utilizes the DCTLink Card Encoding System allowing the issuer to format the cards with the site-specific information on the cash value stripe of the card. Once this information is encoded on the card, it becomes unique to that particular environment, and we call it a "sitecode". Debitek has a unique encoding technology, made up of three distinct components:
With this technology, Debitek is able to encode value without the problem of fraud associated with buffering or duplication. Unlike other systems that use ABA encoding, Debitek systems provide a greater level of security for read/write electronic cash card applications. Debitek cards are also capable of achieving a high level of security using a single magnetic stripe, therefore leaving the additional stripe available for other applications. Debitek's Prime Solutions Software Suite is designed to effectively, accurately and securely manage any size Debitek Electronic Cash System. It has extensive auditing and settlement functions, program modules to create and manage encrypted keys (the heart of security in any smart card system), as well as the creation of programming, data collection, maintenance and users cards. REVALUE STATIONS Once an electronic cash card has been issued, value can be added through a revalue station. Revalue Stations provide a secure, reliable means to add electronic funds to Debitek Magnetic Stripe Cards and Debitek Smart Cards. They are designed so that cardholders can revalue their cards with cash, ATM/bank cards, credit cards, meal plan funds and/or special facility accounts. The combination of our durable designs and system security features, makes Debitek Revalue Stations perfect for both attended and unattended locations. ELECTRONIC CARD READERS FOR POINT OF SALE EQUIPMENT Once value has been placed on a card by a revalue station, the consumer needs a means of using the card and having the funds debited from the card. Debitek provides a full range of Electronic Card Readers that perform this function for vending, copiers, washers, dryers, video games, laser print solutions, cash registers, and more. When the cardholder inserts the electronic cash card into the Card Reader, the value on the card is displayed. After the purchase selection has been made, the system displays the total purchase amount and deducts that amount from the balance on the card. The new balance is displayed and the card is automatically returned to the cardholder. PROGRAMMING/DATA COLLECTION SYSTEM Debitek's programming/data collection system allows the system operator to program each Debitek Reader. Typical programmed parameters are:
The programming/data collection system also allows the collection of summary and transaction level data from the respective systems . After the audit data has been collected, it is taken back to the home office for further analysis. SYSTEM SETTLEMENT SOFTWARE Debitek's settlement software allows the operator to analyze the audit data collected. The software is PC compatible and allows for total and complete settlement of the Debitek Electronic Cash System.
